JKRTC organises grand Investors Meet on monetization of assets in Jammu

JAMMU, DECEMBER 01: Jammu & Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) organized grand Investors Meet in Jammu here today to showcase its extensive asset portfolio and explore new avenues for their monetization under infrastructure modernization and revenue-augmentation initiatives of the agency.

Secretary Transport, Avny Lavasa; Managing Director, JKRTC, Abdul Rashid War; senior officers of Transport department and JKRTC, besides a diverse group of participants including prominent investors, infrastructure developers, representatives from financial institutions, real-estate experts and industry leaders were present on the occasion.

The meet served as a dynamic platform for JKRTC to present wide range of assets that hold significant potential for commercial development, public-utility enhancement, and long-term investment before the investors and participants and collaborate with JKRTC to unlock the value of its under-utilized assets.

Secretary Transport said that the Investors Meet is strategically important for the corporation to make it economically viable. She noted that JKRTC possesses a wide portfolio of strategically located assets at prominent and commercially viable locations that can be leveraged through PPP models, commercial development, and long-term leasing arrangements.

In his address, MD JKRTC, Abdul Rashid War presented a brief outline about the basic objective of this grand Investors Meet. He underlined the Corporation’s ongoing transformation efforts, emphasizing that asset monetization will not only strengthen JKRTC’s operational sustainability but also support the broader vision of economic growth and improved public transport services and create new revenue streams.

“Today’s Investor Meet is a decisive step towards bringing private-sector expertise and investment into initiatives that will not only benefit JKRTC but also boost economic activity, employment, and connectivity across Jammu & Kashmir,” the MD said.

During the meet, the Transactional Advisor of JKRTC gave a detailed presentation showcasing key land parcels across J&K that can be monetized for infrastructure modernization and revenue-augmentation of JKRTC.

Investors were briefed on potential models such as public-private partnerships, lease-based development, joint ventures, and revenue-sharing frameworks, ensuring mutually beneficial opportunities. Participants also engaged in an interactive session to seek clarifications on policy frameworks and future expansion plans.

The meet witnessed an encouraging response, with several investors expressing keen interest in collaborating with JKRTC to unlock the value of its under-utilized assets.
