Rajouri/Jammu, Jan 2: Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district has launched its first community radio station along the Line of Control (LoC), enhancing information outreach in the border areas, officials said.
The station, “Radio Sangam”, was set up by the Indian Army in collaboration with the civil administration and local residents at Keri village, about one kilometre from the LoC.
Officials said the station is designed to provide a credible platform for sharing authentic information, addressing local issues, and countering misinformation and propaganda from across the border. Given its strategic location, its broadcasts can also be received in areas across the LoC.
The radio station was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, in the presence of civil society members, administration officers, and local residents.
Sharma said the initiative would promote social awareness, encourage public participation, amplify local voices, and strengthen the connection between the administration and border communities, while also acting as a bulwark against propaganda from across the LoC.
