With the set target of 60,000 trees to be achieved by August 15, the campaign continues to gain momentum through active community participation and inter-departmental collaboration.

Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Dr. Devansh Yadav, while providing information about the progress of the campaign, announced that a major plantation drive is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, August 5 at 9:30 AM in the Forest Office premises at Qasim Nagar, Narwal. The event is being organized in collaboration with the Urban Forest Division Jammu and aims to plant 10,000 trees as Miyawaki Forest— making it one of its kind urban forest  as well as plantation effort of this season.

Dr. Yadav emphasized the importance of public participation in this green movement and called upon citizens of Jammu along with students, environmentalists, NGOs, government employees, and the general public — to come forward and contribute to the cause by planting and adopting these saplings.

He further urged everyone to plant a tree in the name of their mother, highlighting it as a powerful symbol of love, respect, and environmental responsibility. “This is not just a plantation drive, it is a tribute — a tribute to our mothers and to Mother Earth,” he said.

The campaign seeks to foster a deeper emotional and civic connection between people and the environment, aiming not only to increase green cover but also to instill a long-term sense of stewardship among residents.

The Clean Jammu, Green Jammu initiative is part of a broader strategy by JMC to combat pollution, reduce carbon footprint, beautify public spaces, and contribute to climate resilience in the city. Trees planted under this campaign are being mapped and monitored to ensure their survival and growth, with the active support of the Forest Department and local communities.

The plantation event on August 5 is expected to witness participation from senior government officials, school and college students, civil society groups, and enthusiastic volunteers. Various awareness activities, including environmental pledges and interactive sessions, will also be organized during the program to engage and educate participants about the long-term benefits of trees and urban greening.
