JSW Group Enters Electric Commercial Vehicle Market with Rs 2,500 Crore Investment

JSW Greentech unveils Ampstar and plans a Rs 2,500-crore manufacturing facility in Maharashtra for electric trucks and buses.

NEW DELHI, Sept 22: JSW Group has entered India’s electric commercial vehicle market with the launch of its new Ampstar brand and plans to develop a range of electric trucks and buses over the next three to four years.

JSW Greentech, which operates under JSW Projects and is controlled by the Sajjan Jindal Family Trust, has committed Rs 2,500 crore towards a commercial vehicle manufacturing facility at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra.

The group unveiled the Ampstar brand on September 22, marking its expansion into electric commercial mobility less than three years after entering the broader automotive sector.

The investment will support the development and manufacturing of electric commercial vehicles as JSW seeks to build a presence in a segment undergoing a gradual shift towards cleaner transportation technologies.

The company plans to expand its electric vehicle portfolio over the coming years, with trucks and buses forming the core of its commercial vehicle strategy.
