India, Dec 18 : The Sri Kanakadurga Temple on Indrakeeladri concluded its Bhavani Deeksha Viramana celebrations on a high note, drawing unprecedented crowds and marking one of the most successful events in recent years. Buoyed by the turnout and efficient arrangements, temple authorities have announced plans to introduce a comprehensive digital platform to manage temple services year-round.
Temple Executive Officer Seena Nayak and Trust Board Chairman Borra Radhakrishna stated that the new online system will be modelled on the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) framework, aiming to simplify darshan procedures, reduce waiting times, and improve crowd management during peak days and festivals.
The temple’s recently launched mobile application received strong engagement during the Bhavani Deeksha Viramana programme. Building on this success, the upgraded app will allow devotees to book advance darshan slots, order prasadam, reserve parking, contribute to annadanam and satram, and book various sevas.
The Kanakadurga Temple has been witnessing growing footfall, with 15,000 devotees visiting on regular days and 30,000–50,000 during festivals. Many arrive without prior arrangements, resulting in long queues. The proposed digital system is expected to significantly ease congestion and enhance the overall devotee experience.
Through the platform, devotees will be able to pre-book darshan slots and popular prasadam items such as laddu and pulihora. To support the initiative, nearly ₹10 lakh worth of computers and related infrastructure have already been donated to the temple.
During the Bhavani Deeksha Viramana from December 11 to 15, around 5.27 lakh devotees participated, with the total footfall expected to cross six lakh including general visitors. Special arrangements included dedicated counters, 19 prasadam distribution outlets, three homa gundams, river bathing points, and 3,000 police personnel deployed round the clock for security and crowd management.
Officials highlighted that the successful handling of this year’s event reinforced the need for permanent digital solutions to cater to the growing number of devotees visiting the historic shrine.
