Mumbai, Oct 16: Amid an ongoing legal dispute over the late Sunjay Kapur’s will, Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, celebrated what would have been their father’s 54th birthday. Karisma shared a heartfelt Instagram post late Wednesday, featuring a cake with the text, “Happy Birthday Dad.”
The occasion was further highlighted by Kareena Kapoor, who reshared the post on her Instagram Story with the caption: “My Sam and Kiu, Dad is protecting you always and forever,” accompanied by a heart emoji. Kareena has been supporting her sister and the children throughout this difficult period and was seen accompanying them to Sunjay Kapur’s funeral, along with Saif Ali Khan.
Earlier on Wednesday, Priya Sachdev, Sunjay Kapur’s widow, shared an emotional video montage marking what would have been his birthday, showcasing moments spent with him and his family.
For context, Sunjay Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading auto parts manufacturer, passed away in June while playing polo in London. Initial reports indicated he suffered a heart attack after swallowing a bee. Sunjay was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, and they share two children, Samaira and Kiaan. He married Priya Sachdev in 2017.
The family remains entangled in a legal battle over Sunjay Kapur’s will. Karisma’s children filed a plea claiming that Priya had fabricated the document. Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani questioned the will’s authenticity, highlighting several “glaring errors”, including repeated use of pronouns such as “she” and “her,” which he argued Sunjay was unlikely to have overlooked.
Despite the ongoing dispute, Karisma and Kareena Kapoor have taken a moment to honor Sunjay’s memory, reflecting the children’s enduring bond with their late father.
