Kargil Vijay Diwas: BJP Trikuta Nagar Mandal pays glowing tribute to Kargil martyrs

Randhawa, Rekha, Nitish call for patriotism, national unity, and youth inspiration

Jammu, July 26: Marking the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Trikuta Nagar Mandal, under the leadership of Mandal President Nitish Mahajan, held a solemn and heartfelt programme to pay homage to the valiant soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War. The event, held at the Trikuta Nagar Mandal office in which MLA Vikram Randhawa, Vice-President BJP J&K UT Rekha Mahajan were present and also witnessed an overwhelming turnout of BJP workers, senior citizens, youth, and local residents.

Participants paid floral tributes to the martyrs, and stood in two-minute silence, creating a deeply emotional atmosphere of gratitude, pride, and reflection.

Addressing the gathering, MLA of Bahu Constituency Ch. Vikram Randhawa said “Kargil Vijay Diwas is not just a celebration of a military triumph but a reminder of the indomitable spirit of our soldiers. Their bravery in the face of unimaginable odds during Operation Vijay is etched in the heart of every Indian. The sacrifices made by these bravehearts protected the sanctity of our borders and the pride of our tricolour.”

He further added “Let this day inspire each one of us to be responsible citizens and nationalists in true spirit. As we remember the heroes who didn’t return, we must also commit to strengthening our nation from within—through unity, discipline, and dedication.”

Randhawa urged the youth to draw strength from the legacy of the Kargil heroes and channel their energy towards service to the nation, whether through defense forces, civic engagement, or social development.

BJP Vice President Rekha Mahajan, while addressing the audience, said “The Kargil War was not just a military battle—it was a defining moment of courage, resilience, and patriotism. Every soldier who fought in those icy heights did so knowing the risks, but their love for the nation outweighed every fear. Their legacy is not frozen in time—it is alive in our spirit, our youth, and our freedom.”

She called on women and families to play a greater role in fostering a culture of respect for the armed forces and national heroes.

“Mothers and fathers must tell their children about Kargil, about Captain Vikram Batra, about Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, and many others who redefined heroism. These stories must be passed on like sacred traditions,” she added. Rekha also emphasized BJP’s continuous focus on soldier welfare, from policy to grassroots support, and called upon every citizen to show gratitude through action.

In his keynote address, Mandal President Nitish Mahajan delivered an emotionally charged tribute, stating: “Kargil Vijay Diwas is not just about remembering the past; it is about embracing the responsibility that comes with that memory. We owe our freedom, our progress, and our peace to the soldiers who stood between us and our enemies with nothing but grit, love for the motherland, and unmatched valor.”

 “The Indian Army is not only the most battle-hardened force in the world but also the most disciplined and humane. Whether in the face of war, natural disaster, or international peacekeeping, our soldiers serve with unmatched dedication.”

Mahajan called upon BJP workers and the general public to internalize the spirit of nationalism and contribute actively to nation-building.

“Patriotism is not limited to standing during the national anthem—it must reflect in our daily conduct. If we want to truly honour our martyrs, we must build an India they dreamed of—strong, united, and just.”

He concluded by urging the youth to join hands in building a New India that is both militarily strong and socially inclusive.

Others prominent person who were  present on the occasion were Puneet Katyal, Sanjeev Singh, Sahil Kumar , Rajinder Kour , Paviter Jyot , Delip Katyal , Pawan Khajuria , Divya Jain , Geeta Dogra , Vishal Gupta, Kulbheer Charak , Vishal Malhotta  and Swarn Amla.

The programme concluded with the chanting of patriotic slogans, and the gathering rose to sing the national anthem—a powerful moment of unity and gratitude. The event not only paid homage to the Kargil martyrs but also served as a stirring reminder of every citizen’s role in upholding the ideals of sacrifice, duty, and nationalism.
