Karnataka election result a trendsetter for next year’s general elections, says J&K Congress working president

BJP's divisive politics rejected by people of Karnataka, says J&K Congress leader

13-05-2023 : Workers from the Jammu and Kashmir Congress lit fireworks and danced to drum beats in front of the party headquarters at Shaheedi Chowk to commemorate the party’s victory in the Karnataka Assembly elections. On the website of the Election Commission, the Congress was in the lead in 136 of the 224 Assembly seats in Karnataka, according to the most recent trends. Vikar Rasool Wani, the president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, Raman Bhalla, the working president, Ravinder Sharma, the main spokesperson, and other party officials joined the triumphant workers.

The Congress leaders credited the party’s success in Karnataka to the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi. “We congratulate the voters of Karnataka for rejecting the divisive politics of BJP and voting for secularism. They tried to mislead the public in the name of Bajrangbali, but Bajrangbali favored Congress,” said Wani.

He claimed that the BJP’s poll campaign revolved around Hindu-Muslim while Rahul Gandhi through his yatra made people aware of the fallout of polarization and spread the message of love. “Full credit goes to Rahul Gandhi for this historic outcome of the Karnataka elections. The BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried its best to divide the people on communal lines, but the people rejected them and aligned with Gandhi’s ideology,” Wani added.

The Congress leader expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. “After the Karnataka result, I do not think they will go for assembly elections in J&K. The people here want restoration of democracy and statehood, land and job rights, and we will go all out against BJP in the run-up to the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir,” said Wani.

Karnataka voters were hailed by Bhalla for demonstrating political maturity by rejecting “dictatorship and divisive politics.” We salute the people of Karnataka, he continued. This election result, which saw Congress retake control of Himachal Pradesh, will set the tone for the general elections held the following year since voters wanted to punish the BJP for its populist policies.

The party’s working president claimed that as a result of the 32,18-kilometer yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, change is evident and expected to spread to every corner of the nation. The leaders of the Congress party voiced optimism that the victory in Karnataka would be followed by similar triumphs in other states, including Jammu & Kashmir.
