Vice President, Amit Shah and Bihar leaders honour Bharat Ratna awardee on death anniversary

Bihar, Feb 17 : Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday led the Karpoori Thakur death anniversary tributes, recalling the former Bihar Chief Minister as a lifelong champion of equality and public service.

In a message shared on X, the Vice President described Karpoori Thakur as a leader devoted to the upliftment of deprived and marginalised communities. He noted that Thakur’s simplicity, integrity and commitment to democratic values continue to inspire the nation.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid homage to the Bharat Ratna awardee, calling him a “torchbearer of social justice” who remained dedicated to freedom, equality and transparency in public life. Shah said the late leader’s ideals remain a source of motivation for the youth.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also offered his respects, remembering Thakur as a freedom fighter and a prominent political figure who served Bihar with distinction.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary paid floral tributes and lauded his unwavering stand for the rights of backward and oppressed communities. They emphasised that his ideological commitment to equality and social reform continues to guide political and social discourse.

Fondly known as ‘Jananayak’, Thakur is widely regarded for advancing affirmative action policies and promoting clean public life. His enduring contributions to social justice and empowerment remain a defining chapter in India’s political history.
