- Udhampur Congress Committee Leads Day-Long Hunger Strike for Restoration of J&K’s Identity
Slogans of ‘Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq’ Echo as Congress Cadres Unite for Statehood DemandJammu, August 11: continuing the chain hunger strike for restoration of statehood, the Udhampur Congress Committee today led the hunger strike & dharna for statehood in Jammu, which was joined by JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, Working President Raman Bhalla, former minister Mula Ram, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Th Balbir Singh Ex MLA, former MLC Ved Mahajan, Hari Singh Chib, Kanta Bhan, Namrata Sharma & other senior leaders at Shaeedi Chowk Jammu.
Led by PCC Coordinator for Udhampur Th Balbir Singh and accompanied by DCC President Vinod Khajuria, Working President Sumit Mangotra, Ex MLA Krishan Bhagat, Shakeel Shah & ors, and a large number of Congress leaders and workers of Udhampur district today held a day-long dharna and hunger strike in front of party HQ at Shaeedi Chowk, Jammu. They raised slogans ” Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq,” “Restore full statehood,” “Statehood is the right of 1.40 cr of J&K residents,” etc.
Speaking to the gathering and later talking to media persons, J&KPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra lauded the Congress cadres in both regions of Jammu and Kashmir for coming to their respective headquarters to continue the Hunger strike every day till further instructions.
He said that the Congress party is determined to fight for the restoration of statehood, which is a basic right and identity, status of each of the 1.4o cr citizens of J&K.
We are not demanding anything new except what was promised to us by the Modi government from time to time in six years, and it is already overdue, which is being denied arbitrarily and undemocratically.
He said Congress has no option but to fight for the basic rights and identity of people of J&K, and it’s our moral & political duty to fight for the people.
Shri Raman Bhalla lashed out at the Modi government for the betrayal of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the past six years. He said that BJP wanted to rule by proxy and loot the resources of J&K and it deliberately downgraded the historical Dogra state. We shall continue our struggle for the restoration of statehood till it is achieved. We shall intensify the struggle further also.
