VARANASI, Dec 03: On the second day of Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS)-4.0 on Wednesday, a group of students from Tamil Nadu participated in sacred Ganga rituals at Hanuman Ghat. The students bathed in the holy River Ganges and offered prayers to Mother Ganga, deepening their spiritual connection with the city.
As part of the visit, scholars were provided detailed insights into the history and significance of Varanasi’s ghats. After the rituals, they explored the ancient temples along the ghats, learning about their divinity, architectural grandeur, and historical relevance.
The students also visited the residence of renowned poet Subramania Bharati at Hanuman Ghat, interacting with his family members and studying archival materials at the nearby library. The group’s itinerary included a visit to the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetha, where they learned about the rich heritage of South Indian temples in Kashi, leaving them fascinated by the architectural and cultural fusion.
Pandit Venkat Raman Ghanpathi highlighted the centuries old connection between Kashi and Tamil Nadu, describing the Sangamam as a symbol of enduring cultural unity. He pointed out that areas like Hanuman, Kedar, and Harishchandra Ghats host mini Tamil Nadu communities, with over 150 Tamil families residing at Hanuman Ghat alone. The Kashi Tamil Sangamam thus continues to celebrate the historical and cultural ties between the regions.
