Kashmir Apple Growers Seek Government Support Amid Weather Concerns

Farmers Report Damage to Early Bloom Crops

SRINAGAR, May 4: Apple growers across several districts of Kashmir have appealed for immediate government support after erratic weather conditions reportedly damaged early stage blossoms in orchards.

Farmers from Shopian, Pulwama, and Baramulla said recent rainfall and temperature fluctuations have affected fruit production prospects, raising fears of financial losses during the upcoming harvest season.

Growers urged authorities to announce compensation measures and expand crop insurance coverage to protect orchard owners from climate-related setbacks.

Officials from the Horticulture Department said assessment teams are conducting field inspections to evaluate the extent of the damage and prepare a detailed report.
