SRINAGAR, Feb 3: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch has registered a case against two individuals for allegedly securing admission to a medical college using a forged physical disability certificate.
According to the EOW, a student from Ajas in Bandipora district obtained an MBBS seat at SKIMS Soura, Srinagar, in 2023 by falsely claiming to be a person with disability and belonging to the economically weaker section. Investigations revealed that the student, in collusion with another individual from Asham, Sumbal, Bandipora, procured the fake PWD certificate.
The forged document allegedly enabled the accused to secure admission to the MBBS course. The acts committed are reportedly punishable under Sections 420, 468, 471, and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code.
