Srinagar, Dec 18: Cold wave conditions continued across Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday night, with several locations in the Kashmir Valley recording sub-zero minimum temperatures. Zojila Pass emerged as the coldest place in the region, registering a biting minus 17 degrees Celsius.
In the Kashmir region, Awantipora recorded the lowest minimum temperature at minus 3.8°C, followed by Pulwama at minus 3.2°C. Pampore and Baramulla both settled at minus 1.8°C, while Shopian recorded minus 1.5°C. Srinagar city registered a low of 0.2°C, with the Srinagar Airport touching the freezing point.
Kupwara recorded a minimum of minus 1.0°C, Anantnag minus 0.3°C, Budgam and Bandipora minus 0.8°C each, and Ganderbal minus 0.1°C. Tourist destinations Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded minimum temperatures of 0.4°C and 1.6°C respectively, while Sonamarg stood at 2.1°C. Kulgam recorded 2.0°C, Kokernag 1.8°C, and Qazigund 0.8°C. Zethan Rafiabad weather station was reported non-functional.
In the Jammu region, minimum temperatures remained comparatively higher. Jammu city recorded 11.0°C, while the Jammu Airport settled at 11.5°C. Katra recorded 12.1°C, Banihal 5.7°C, Batote 9.5°C, Bhaderwah 5.0°C, Kathua 8.8°C, Udhampur 6.1°C, Ramban 8.3°C, Samba 7.1°C, Rajouri 3.0°C, Kishtwar 8.6°C, Reasi 9.7°C, and Doda recorded 8.8°C.
In Ladakh, Leh recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.4°C, while temperature data for Kargil and Nubra Valley was not available.
