Kerala, Mar 30 : Pinarayi Vijayan has agreed to a public debate challenge thrown by Congress leader V D Satheesan, escalating the political contest in the run-up to the April 9 Assembly elections.
The Chief Minister took to social media to share the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s performance report, inviting the opposition to engage in a discussion based on the achievements highlighted in it. Emphasising what he described as an “A-plus” governance record, Vijayan questioned whether the opposition was prepared to debate these claims.
Responding promptly, Satheesan welcomed the acceptance and stated that he was ready to participate in the debate at a venue and time chosen by the Chief Minister. He added that the final judgment should be left to the people.
The exchange comes amid ongoing criticism from the opposition regarding the government’s development track record. Satheesan had earlier raised concerns over housing projects and cited official data presented in the Assembly to challenge the ruling front’s claims.
With both leaders expressing readiness, the proposed debate is expected to intensify campaigning and draw significant public attention in the days leading up to the polls.
