Kerala Polls 2026: KC Venugopal Confident of UDF Crossing 100 Seats

Congress leader asserts strong anti-incumbency wave against Left government

NEW DELHI: K. C. Venugopal on Sunday expressed strong confidence in the United Democratic Front (UDF), claiming the alliance is poised to secure a decisive mandate in the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference, Venugopal said there is a clear shift in public sentiment, with voters seeking a change from the incumbent Left-led government. He asserted that the UDF is likely to win more than 100 seats, indicating what he described as a strong anti-incumbency wave across the state.

The Congress leader maintained that public feedback suggests widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration, which has been in power for a decade. He added that the electorate is prepared to deliver a decisive verdict in favour of change when polling takes place.

Venugopal also criticised the government led by Pinarayi Vijayan, accusing it of excessive spending on public relations to enhance its image. He alleged that governance issues and policies have been overshadowed by efforts to shape perception ahead of elections.

Reiterating the party’s preparedness, he said the Congress is open to a public debate on its manifesto and is confident that its campaign will resonate with voters.

With the election date approaching, political activity in Kerala is intensifying, and both the ruling front and opposition alliances are gearing up for a high-stakes contest.
