Kharge Declares J&K Victory as a Rejection of BJP’s Anti-People Policies

Kharge Calls for Reflection on Unexpected Haryana Results Amid J&K Triumph

New Delhi, Oct 8: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge articulated that the recent electoral victory of the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance in Jammu and Kashmir represents a decisive mandate from the populace against the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) policies, which he characterized as detrimental to the common people. He condemned what he described as the “violation and oppression” of citizens’ rights, along with the perceived misuse of constitutional institutions under the BJP’s governance.

Kharge emphasized the coalition’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the alliance, part of the larger INDIA bloc, is resolutely dedicated to safeguarding the constitutional rights and well-being of the region’s residents. He expressed gratitude to the electorate for their support, acknowledging their trust in the Congress-NC coalition to address their needs and aspirations.

In contrast, Kharge expressed surprise at the results of the Haryana elections, where the Congress party secured only 37 seats compared to the BJP’s 48, marking the latter’s third consecutive victory in the state. He conveyed that the party would conduct a thorough evaluation of the electorate’s feedback and the factors influencing the electoral outcome in Haryana.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Kharge reassured Congress workers not to feel disheartened, as their struggle against what he termed as “dictatorship” is an ongoing endeavor. He assured that the party would engage with grassroots workers to gain insights and assess the realities on the ground before issuing a comprehensive response to the electoral results.

Kharge congratulated the leaders of the National Conference, including President Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah, for their significant electoral success. He reiterated that the mandate from the people of Jammu and Kashmir serves as a repudiation of the BJP’s anti-people policies and a call for accountability and representation.

With the Congress-NC alliance winning a total of 48 seats in Jammu and Kashmir, including six for Congress, the results signify a critical shift in the political landscape of the region. The Congress party, while facing setbacks in Haryana, remains resolute in its commitment to addressing the challenges faced by its constituents in both states, with a focus on restoring democratic values and ensuring equitable governance.
