27-04-2023 : The Congress party has intensified its criticism of the BJP government, with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge making a statement about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at a rally in Naregal town of Gajendragad taluk of Gadag district, Kharge likened Modi to a poisonous snake, warning people not to test if it was poisonous by licking it as it would result in death.
This statement has been widely criticized as an inappropriate remark against the Prime Minister and may harm Congress’ image in the eyes of the public. The BJP is likely to use this statement to their advantage and launch a campaign to gain public sympathy.
Kharge had previously compared PM Modi to Ravana during the Gujarat elections, which was also widely criticized. The BJP made a big issue out of it, which ultimately worked in their favor and helped them win by a significant margin.
In response to Kharge’s statement, BJP IT Cell Incharge Amit Malviya criticized the Congress, saying that it showed the party’s desperation and that it was losing in Karnataka. He also brought up Sonia Gandhi’s controversial remark about “Maut Ka Saudagar” (merchant of death) which was directed at Modi during the 2007 Gujarat elections. Malviya insinuated that Congress was stooping to a new low by making such statements.
Kharge also criticized Modi’s adherence to saffron ideology, which he believes is ruining the country. He asked what Modi’s ideology and point of view were, claiming that they were bad for the country. Kharge also stated that if the Congress party wins the Karnataka elections, it will bring about change and win the entire country. He added that the high level of corruption in Karnataka was a problem and that the state government had failed to take action against those involved in scams.
In response to the corruption allegations, the BJP government in Karnataka claimed that they had jailed their own MLA and several seamsters in Bitcoin and Chilume scams. The Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai, stated that the government had done everything in their power to maintain law and order in the state.
Overall, Kharge’s statement about Modi being a poisonous snake is likely to generate controversy and backlash from the BJP, and it may harm the Congress party’s image in the eyes of the public.
Meanwhile, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge has clarified that his recent remark about a “poisonous snake” was not directed towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi or any other individual. Instead, he was discussing the divisive and hostile ideology of the BJP towards the poor and Dalits. Kharge emphasized that his political fight has always been against this ideology and its leaders, and his intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings. He further stated that he has always followed the norms of political correctness and will continue to do so.
Kharge’s comment had caused controversy, but he reiterated that his fight with PM Modi is not personal but ideological. Kharge had made similar snide remarks about PM Modi in the past, such as comparing him to Ravana during the Gujarat elections. BJP IT Cell Incharge Amit Malviya accused the Congress of stooping to a new low and losing in Karnataka, while the BJP is making the poll campaign Modi-centric.
