New Delhi, Jan 20: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday paid homage to Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, popularly known as the Frontier Gandhi, on his death anniversary.
In a post on X, Kharge described Bacha Khan as a “beacon of peace,” highlighting that his life and principles continue to inspire millions across India and South Asia.
Khan, a prominent figure in India’s freedom struggle, was remembered for his lifelong advocacy of nonviolence, human dignity, and communal harmony. Kharge recalled his unwavering commitment to India’s independence, his repeated imprisonments for standing by his principles, and his pivotal role in the Indian National Congress, including serving on the Congress Working Committee and election to the Constituent Assembly.
“His steadfast dedication to non-violence, harmony, and human dignity continues to inspire millions, reminding us of the shared ideals that bind us all,” Kharge wrote in his tribute.
Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi, is remembered for mobilising non-violent resistance in the North-West Frontier Province and for promoting peaceful political action throughout his life.
