KIUG 2025: Neeru Dhanda Clinches Fourth Consecutive Gold in Trap Shooting Jain University Leads Medal Table

Guru Nanak Dev University dominates shooting and cycling, while Jain University strengthens lead with swimming triumphs at Khelo India University Games Rajasthan 2025.

Rajasthan, Nov 27 : Guru Nanak Dev University showcased a spectacular performance at the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) Rajasthan 2025 as trap shooters Neeru Dhanda and Aditya Bharadwaj spearheaded a clean sweep of all four shotgun medals at the Jagatpur Shooting Range. Their cycling teammates also claimed gold in both men’s and women’s individual road races, pushing GNDU’s gold tally to double digits.

Jain University continued to dominate the overall standings with 12 gold, six silver, and seven bronze medals, while Guru Nanak Dev University climbed to second place with 10 golds. Lovely Professional University secured third position with eight golds, largely due to its strong wrestling performance.

Neeru Dhanda, reigning Asian Shooting Championships gold medallist, captured her fourth consecutive individual gold at the University Games with a final score of 47 points. Her GNDU teammates Manisha Keer (39) and Nandika Singh (30) completed the podium, and the trio also clinched the team gold with a combined 344 points. Neeru said, “This is my last Khelo India University Games, and I wanted to end with another gold medal after winning the previous three editions.”

In men’s trap, Aditya Bharadwaj led GNDU to victory with 45 points, followed by Punjabi University’s Jungsher Singh Virk and Manav Rachna’s Bhaktiyaar Malik.

Cyclists Meenakshi Rohilla and Akshar Tyagi contributed to GNDU’s growing medal count, winning the women’s and men’s road race events respectively. Jain University bolstered its lead by securing four more swimming golds, including relay and individual victories by Nina Venkatesh, Bhavya Sachdeva, and the men’s 50m butterfly gold by Harsh Saroha of Chandigarh University.

Wrestling events at Bharatpur’s Loragarh Indoor Stadium saw standout performances, including Jaspooran Singh (Chitkara University) winning men’s 125kg freestyle, and local favourite Sagar of Dr KN Modi University claiming gold in the men’s 97kg Greco-Roman category.

The fifth edition of KIUG 2025 features 4,448 athletes from 222 universities across seven cities in Rajasthan, competing in 23 medal disciplines under the aegis of the Sports Authority of India and Rajasthan State Sports Council.
