MUMBAI, Aug 29: Bollywood personalities gathered in Mumbai on Saturday to remember veteran filmmaker Kuku Kohli at a prayer meeting held in his honour, paying tribute to his contribution to Hindi cinema.
The gathering at Celebration Sports Club in Andheri West was attended by several members of the film fraternity, including Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, Rajpal Yadav, Madhoo, Poonam Dhillon, Anupam Kher and Jackie Shroff.
Actress Aruna Irani, who shared a close professional association with Kohli, was among those present and appeared emotional during the tribute.
Kohli, who passed away on August 25 at a Mumbai hospital, was known for directing popular films including ‘Phool Aur Kaante’, ‘Suhaag’, ‘Haqeeqat’ and ‘Woh Tera Naam Tha’.
His work, particularly during the 1990s, earned him a place among the filmmakers associated with some of Hindi cinema’s memorable commercial entertainers.
The prayer gathering brought together actors and colleagues who worked with or admired the filmmaker, reflecting the impact of his career on the Hindi film industry.
Members of the fraternity remembered Kohli for his association with several successful stars and for his contribution to mainstream Bollywood filmmaking over the years.
