Kulgam Police Conduct Raids on Residences Linked to Banned Jamaat-e-Islami Members

Operation targets JeI members and associates, incriminating material, digital devices seized amid intensified anti-terror drive

Kulgam, Nov 12: In a major counter terror operation, the Kulgam Police on Wednesday conducted raids at more than 200 locations across the district targeting members and associates of the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).

According to an official statement, the coordinated raids were part of sustained efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem and disrupt networks supporting militancy at the grassroots level.

Over the past four days, police and security forces have carried out more than 400 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) in various parts of the district. These operations focused on Over Ground Workers (OGWs), former JKNOPs, previous encounter sites, and hideouts of active or slain terrorists, the statement said.

During these operations, around 500 individuals affiliated with JKNOPs and other banned outfits were interrogated, with many bound down under preventive laws and shifted to District Jail Mattan in Anantnag.

The raids also led to the seizure of incriminating material and digital devices, which are being examined for further leads. Several JeI members were also questioned to trace and disrupt channels aiding terrorism in the region.

Reaffirming its commitment to eradicating terrorism, the Kulgam Police stated that it remains firm in its zero-tolerance policy towards terror activities and will continue its operations to ensure peace and public order in the district.
