LEH, Sep 29: Curfew continued for the sixth consecutive day in the violence hit town of Leh on Monday, as Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta prepared to chair a high level meeting to review the overall security situation.
An official said, “The situation remained largely peaceful in the curfew-bound areas, with no untoward incidents reported. Police and paramilitary forces are deployed in strength in sensitive zones, maintaining strict vigil to uphold law and order.”
The Lt Governor convened the meeting at Raj Bhavan ahead of the planned last rites of ex-serviceman Tsewang Tharchin from Skurbuchan and 21-year-old Rinchen Dadul from Hanu, which are scheduled to take place later in the day.
