Srinagar, Apr 2: A tragic road accident involving a school van near Ghanta Ghar at Lal Chowk on Thursday claimed the life of the driver and left two others injured, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as 47 year old Javeed Ahmad, a resident of Umair Abad, Bemina. He was driving the school van when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle near SSI Bank, resulting in a severe crash.
Ahmad sustained critical injuries and was rushed to SMHS Hospital for immediate medical attention. However, despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries.
Fortunately, all students travelling in the van escaped unharmed, averting what could have been a major tragedy.
Two other individuals sustained minor injuries in the incident and are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is said to be stable.
Police have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated further investigation into the cause of the accident.
