Ramban, Mar 31: Vehicular movement along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway came to a standstill late Monday evening following a major disruption caused by a Mehar Ramban landslide, officials said.
The incident took place near the trailer parking zone in Mehar, where falling debris obstructed both the upward and downward tunnels, cutting off traffic on the vital route.
In response, authorities implemented immediate traffic control measures, stopping vehicles at key locations including Chanderkote, Jakhiani Kharpura and Kistwari Pather to prevent overcrowding and reduce risk to commuters.
Officials stated that assessment of the affected area is underway, and clearance operations are expected to begin shortly to restore connectivity on the highway.
