Chennai, Dec 4: The Tamil film industry mourned the loss of legendary producer AVM Saravanan, who passed away at the age of 86 on Thursday due to age related health issues. His death came just a day after he celebrated his birthday, making the loss even more poignant for fans and the film fraternity.

Saravanan was the driving force behind the iconic AVM Studios, one of India’s most respected film production houses. Under his stewardship, the studio delivered numerous timeless classics that continue to resonate with audiences.

According to family sources, Saravanan’s mortal remains were kept for public homage at AVM Studios’ third floor until 3:30 pm, drawing fans, colleagues, and film personalities to pay their final respects. Several production houses also halted shoots, promotions, and events as a mark of tribute.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin was among the first to express condolences. In a heartfelt message on X, he called Saravanan one of the greatest personalities of the Tamil film industry. Stalin highlighted Saravanan’s role in continuing the legacy of his father, AVM Appachi, and praised his efforts in using cinema to advance social and political messages through films like Oru Raavu, Parasakthi, and Kuladeivam.
