Leh Snowfall Hits Flight Operations; IndiGo Issues Travel Advisory

Airline suspends take-offs and landings, offers rebooking and refunds as weather disrupts operations

NEW DELHI, Jan 5: IndiGo Airlines on Monday issued a travel advisory after heavy snowfall in Leh forced the temporary suspension of all flight operations at the airport.

The airline said adverse weather conditions have led to a halt in both take-offs and landings, resulting in possible delays and extended waiting periods for passengers, either onboard aircraft or at the terminal. IndiGo added that, to ensure quicker departures once weather clearance is granted, boarding formalities for affected flights may be completed in advance.

“We understand that delays can be inconvenient, and we assure our passengers that our teams are making every effort to ensure a comfortable waiting experience,” the airline said in a statement.

IndiGo noted that it is closely monitoring the situation and will resume operations as soon as weather conditions improve. Passengers have been advised to regularly check the status of their flights through the airline’s website or mobile application before proceeding to the airport.

For travellers impacted by the disruption, IndiGo is offering options to rebook on alternate flights or seek refunds in line with its policy. The airline said further updates will be issued once there is clarity on weather conditions in the region.
