Srinagar, Sep 15: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday inaugurated the Joint Parcel Product–Rapid Cargo Service (JPP-RCS) at Budgam Railway Station, marking a major step in improving goods transportation from Jammu and Kashmir to New Delhi.
Speaking to reporters at the launch, LG Sinha said the dedicated parcel train will facilitate the movement of nearly 23–24 tonnes of apples and other perishable products directly to Delhi.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister and Indian Railways, the Lieutenant Governor said, “A parcel train has started which will allow transportation of 23–24 tonnes of apples and other perishables to Delhi. This is a big contribution towards strengthening our economy.”
Highlighting the benefits, Sinha added that the new service will lower transportation costs, improve market connectivity, and provide a significant boost to the Union Territory’s economy. “This initiative will better connect Jammu and Kashmir with other regions, enabling goods to reach markets at reduced costs and enhancing economic growth,” he said.
