Katra, 15-02-2025: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today addressed the 10th Convocation Ceremony of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), inspiring the graduating students to contribute towards making India the world’s largest economy. He expressed deep gratitude to Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar for gracing the occasion and blessing the students on this momentous day, which he said would remain etched in their memories forever.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that the strength of the nation lies in the values, innovation, and knowledge of its youth. He asserted that those graduating during this Amrit Kaal hold the power to shape India’s destiny, urging them to take up the responsibility of nation-building. “The youth stepping into the real world today have a unique opportunity to contribute towards the economic and social transformation of the country,” he said.
Highlighting the rapid advancements in humanities, arts, science, and technology, Sinha underscored the importance of utilizing knowledge to drive progress. He particularly encouraged the youth to leverage their skills to uplift rural communities, stressing that this mission requires unwavering dedication and determination. “Our young minds must remain deeply rooted in India’s ancient culture while having immense faith in their own abilities and the wisdom passed down through generations,” he added.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that skills and education must translate into tangible improvements in people’s lives. He stressed the need for a fresh perspective on teaching and mentoring systems to harness future opportunities in science and technology. “The journey towards Viksit Bharat will be shaped by how effectively we empower our students with knowledge and skills that cater to the evolving needs of the world,” he remarked.
Calling upon the teaching community, Sinha urged educators to nurture curiosity, promote critical thinking, and foster creativity and innovation. He emphasized that educational institutions must evolve into powerful catalysts for national progress, ensuring that students are not just academically equipped but also prepared for lifelong learning. “Teachers should inspire students by sharing their own life experiences, instilling in them the ability to adapt, innovate, and lead in a rapidly changing world,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor extended his heartfelt congratulations to all graduating students, wishing them a bright and successful future. He particularly commended the girl students for excelling in academics, securing the highest number of medals, and leading in Certificate of Distinction and the prestigious Infosys Foundation Prize.
During the convocation, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University also conferred Honoris Causa degrees upon eminent writer and historian Padma Shri Pt. Shiv Dutt Nirmohi and former CEO of the National Health Authority, Dr. Ram Sewak Sharma, in recognition of their invaluable contributions in their respective fields.
