JAMMU, NOVEMBER 28: A series of significant delegations today called on Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, reflecting the growing public engagement with the administration across cultural, educational and industrial domains.
Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, accompanied by Shri Sunil Sharma, Vice President of the Trust, met the Lieutenant Governor and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the government’s notable intervention in promoting Sanskrit education at SKUAST-Jammu. He appreciated the introduction of Sanskrit as a non-credit subject for Post-graduate students, a move he described as a major step toward revitalising India’s ancient knowledge traditions.
Mahant Shastri also briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the forthcoming “Kailakh Sanskrit Ratna Award – 2025” and updated him on the Trust’s ongoing initiatives, including the Sanskrit Nameplate Campaign and the Mobile Sanskrit Gurukul, which aim to popularise the language at the grassroots level.
Shri Bharat Bhushan, Chairman, District Development Council Jammu, along with Vice Chairman Shri Suraj Singh, also met the Lieutenant Governor and discussed matters related to district development and welfare initiatives.
Padma Shri Balwant Thakur, renowned theatre personality and former Cultural Diplomat of India to South Africa and Mauritius, called on the Lieutenant Governor to share insights on cultural promotion, artistic development and creative outreach in Jammu and Kashmir.
In another meeting, a delegation from the Federation of Trade & Industry of India (FTII) led by National President Dr Sanjay Bansal met the Lieutenant Governor and raised several important matters concerning the industrial sector in the Union Territory. The delegation highlighted opportunities for growth, ease of doing business and the need for supportive policy measures to strengthen J&K’s industrial landscape.
The Lieutenant Governor assured all delegations of the administration’s continued support and commitment to fostering educational advancement, cultural enrichment and industrial development across Jammu and Kashmir.
