Jammu, May 21: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review plans for the establishment of an International Museum of Goddess at Katra, a proposed cultural and spiritual landmark dedicated to the traditions of Mata Shakti.
During the meeting, officials, board members and stakeholders discussed various proposals for developing the museum into a world class institution that would provide pilgrims and visitors with a deeper understanding of Shakti traditions through immersive experiences, historical artefacts and regional cultural narratives supported by modern technology.
The proposed museum is envisioned as a unique spiritual destination aimed at showcasing the rich heritage of sacred Shakti traditions while promoting religious tourism in the region. Officials said the project would combine mythology, history and local customs through interactive storytelling and advanced digital presentations.
The Lieutenant Governor suggested deputing a team of experts to visit prominent Shaktipeeths that are proposed to be represented in the museum in order to ensure authenticity and detailed documentation for the project.
The board also resolved to appoint a specialised consultant for carrying out detailed research and preparing the architectural concept for the museum.
According to officials, the International Museum of Goddess will function not only as a spiritual centre but also as a major knowledge hub featuring an integrated library and research centre. The initiative is expected to promote cultural, traditional and spiritual values among the younger generation while preserving the legacy of Shakti worship for future generations.
