LG reviews security in J&K, urges unity and calm across communities

Jammu, March 1, 2026: The Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, chaired a high-level review meeting in Jammu to assess the prevailing security situation across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Shri Nalin Prabhat, senior civil and police officials, along with all Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police, reflecting the seriousness and comprehensive nature of the review.

During the deliberations, the lieutenant governor emphasized that maintaining peace and stability remains a shared responsibility of every citizen and institution. He appealed to all communities to uphold harmony and exercise restraint, stressing that unity and calm are essential for sustained progress and prosperity in the region.

“I urge all communities to remain calm and united in this hour. Peace is our collective responsibility,” the lieutenant governor said, underscoring the importance of social cohesion during sensitive times.

He commended the coordinated efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, security forces and the civil administration for their steadfast commitment to safeguarding law and order. Acknowledging their synchronized response and vigilance, he praised their role in ensuring stability across districts and preventing any disruption to public life.

The review covered district wise assessments of the security environment, preparedness measures, and coordination mechanisms among various agencies. Officials briefed the lieutenant governor on ground-level arrangements and ongoing steps to maintain vigilance and responsiveness.

The Lieutenant Governor also informed the meeting that the government is closely monitoring developments in West Asia. He said senior officials of the Union Territory are in regular coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safety and welfare of residents and students from Jammu and Kashmir who may be affected by the evolving situation abroad.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment to proactive governance, the lieutenant governor directed officers at all levels to maintain close coordination and ensure effective communication channels. He stressed that any emerging challenge must be addressed promptly and professionally to preserve peace and public confidence.
