SRINAGAR, Sep 17: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday extended greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday, praising his dedication to the nation and attributing India’s transformation over the last decade to his leadership.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, LG Sinha said, “Today is Modi ji’s birthday. The entire country is celebrating Sewa Parv from September 17 to October 2, from Modi ji’s birthday to Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The J&K administration is also observing this occasion with full dedication.”
He added that the Prime Minister’s commitment had accelerated India’s growth, ensuring that the benefits of economic development reached rural communities and the poor. “India is now the world’s fourth-largest economy, and more than 25 crore people have come out of poverty. The nation’s global prestige has also risen under Modi ji’s leadership,” Sinha said.
The LG prayed for the Prime Minister’s long life, wishing that he continues serving the nation with devotion. To mark the occasion, Sinha distributed fruits among patients at Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital in Srinagar.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also extended greetings on social media, wishing the Prime Minister good health and a long life of service.
Meanwhile, celebrations were held near the historic Lal Chowk clock tower, where a life-size cutout of PM Modi was garlanded by poet Jamal Ali Karbalai, popularly known as Jamal Budgami, who heads the All India Modi Fans Association. He also distributed sweets to mark the day. Karbalai, who has previously celebrated Modi’s birthday, had earlier adorned the PM’s cutout with a traditional Kashmiri pheran on International Pheran Day.
