LG Sinha Pays Tribute to Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha at Geden Sheddup Choikorling Monastery

Lieutenant Governor leads delegation to Elista, Kalmykia, highlighting Buddha’s teachings of compassion, wisdom, and non-violence

Srinagar/Elista, Oct 18: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid obeisance to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha at the Central Temple of Geden Sheddup Choikorling Monastery, also known as “the Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni”, in Elista, Kalmykia, Russia.

Sinha is leading a delegation to bring back the holy relics to India after a week-long exposition in Elista. Interacting with the monastery’s revered monks, he appreciated the warm reception of the relics by the local populace, describing it as a rare and memorable gesture.

“The holy relics of the Buddha are considered equivalent to the Buddha himself. Their presence here blesses the people of Kalmykia and all of Russia. India takes pride in the principles and teachings of the Buddha. His message of compassion, wisdom, and non-violence remains ever relevant,” Sinha said.

He also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in promoting Buddha’s teachings globally, emphasizing their continued relevance in today’s world.

The Lieutenant Governor urged that Buddha’s message be more widely embraced, particularly among youth, to foster compassion, wisdom, and non-violence in societies worldwide.
