LG Sinha Says Nation’s Strength Key to Youth’s Progress

LG Sinha Urges Youth to Prioritize Nation Building for Collective Progress

Srinagar, Feb 26: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday emphasized that the country’s development should be the foremost responsibility of the young generation, stating that personal progress is tied to national strength. He made these remarks while addressing the 21st convocation of the University of Kashmir, highlighting the outstanding performance of female students.

Nation First, Progress Follows
Sinha said, “The only priority should be country first. You should remember that when you build the country, the country builds you back. When the nation rises, so do you.” Vice President C P Radhakrishnan attended the ceremony as the chief guest.

Focus on Adaptability, Learning, and Technology
The lieutenant governor advised students and faculty to concentrate on adaptability, embracing failure as part of learning, and leveraging technology as a tool rather than a crutch. “There should be adaptability to changing situations. Failure should not be treated as a punishment but as part of the learning process. Technology should empower, not make us dependent,” he added.

Education as a Tool for Transformation
Sinha stressed that education is a powerful means of societal transformation, especially in a digitally connected world. “What is in demand today may be obsolete tomorrow. Lifelong learning is essential to survive and adapt to changes,” he noted. He also highlighted India’s goal to become a developed nation by 2047, stressing that sustained effort and responsible use of technology are key.

Women Leading the Way
The LG lauded the performance of women students at the convocation. “Out of 239 gold medals, 186 are won by girls. Out of 164 PhDs, 108 are awarded to girls. This is not an ordinary statistic,” he said, adding that women are setting new benchmarks and exemplifying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of women’s empowerment.

Digital Innovation and Quality of Life
Sinha concluded by urging faculty and students to go beyond traditional methods and embrace innovation, emphasizing that the ultimate aim of education is to improve quality of life, not just earn a livelihood.
