Poonch: Shamsher Rana Hakla Poonchi S/o Ch. Wazir Mohd Hakla Resident of Village Bandichechian, Tehsil Haveli Distt. Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir UT is born on 19 December 1972. He belongs to the Muslim Gujjar community. Shamsher Hakla Poonchi a prominent Gujjar leader, Scholar, Writer, Philosopher, and intellectual of (J&K) has done a lot of social works without any personal interest with dedication, sincerity, and honesty. He has rendered excellent services for the upliftment of the downtrodden section of society and for the noble cause of the poor strata of the country. He has strengthened communal harmony among different communities. He has always promoted the national integration and secular character of the country.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi especially regards issues pertaining to the Gujjar community not only in J&K but in other parts of the country as well, through speeches he has been stressing the promotion of patriotism and communal harmony. He has played a very important role in the cause of national integration.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi has written a large no. of articles and papers relating to the Gujjar History & Culture and Gojri language and also on difficulties & problems of the Gujjar Bakarwal tribe published through the national and regional print media and also broadcasted on the electronic media.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi played a vital role in developing the Gujjar Bakarwal community of J&K educationally, socially, politically & economically. He always highlighted the problems and difficulties faced by the Gujjar Bakarwal tribe of J&K by keeping their problems in front of the govt. at the time and he worked a lot to solve their problems and also worked for the promotion and upliftment of the Gojri language spoken by the Gujjar Bakarwal (Scheduled Tribe) community of J&K.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi has been conferred upon with the “Kargil Gorav Award” on 1st of September 2018 at Kargil, Ladakh by Sarhad Pune, N.G.O for an exemplary contribution to the nation and society.
He has also been conferred upon with the “Prem Nath Bhat Award” on 18 November 1992 at Jammu, J&K by Pt. Prem Nath Bhat Trust for his exemplary contribution towards the nation & Gujjar Bakarwal tribe of J&K.
On 05 May 1992, on the instruction of the Jammu and Kashmir government the District Development Commissioner Poonch nominated him as “Member District level governing body of District Rural Development Agency Poonch.
On 11 September 1995, the District Development Commissioner Poonch nominated him as “Member District Advisory Committee of Youth Programme.
On 10 March 1997, the Jammu and Kashmir government nominated him as “Member of the State Level Advisory board for development and welfare of Gujjar Bakarwal.
On 15 June 1999, the Jammu and Kashmir government nominated him as “Member of District level committee of Rehabilitation council for victims of Militancy of Poonch district.
On 25 June 1999, Jammu and Kashmir government nominated him as “Member State Level Co-ordination Committee for Persons with disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of rights and Full Participation).
On 31st May 2001, the Ministry of Communications, Department of Telecom, Govt.of India nominated him as “Member Telecom Telephone Advisory Committee for J&K.
On 28 July 2005, the Jammu and Kashmir government nominated him as “Member of J&K government Tribal Advisory group of District Poonch.
