SRINAGAR, Oct 8: Infiltration attempts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir have been effectively foiled due to the vigilance of security forces and deployment of modern surveillance technologies, a senior Border Security Force (BSF) officer said on Wednesday.
IG, BSF, Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav stated that intelligence reports indicate terrorists are still stationed at launch pads across the LoC, awaiting opportunities to infiltrate. “The way BSF and Army have dominated the LoC through alertness and use of modern surveillance gadgets has ensured that infiltration attempts have not succeeded,” he told reporters.
Yadav added that with winter approaching in about two months, militants may continue attempting infiltration, but the security forces’ area domination will help detect and neutralize such efforts.
When asked about the number of terrorists at the launch pads, Yadav said, “All the terrorists at launching pads are foreigners. The numbers keep changing, but generally around 100 to 120 terrorists are present at any given time.”
Regarding the alleged collaboration between Lashkar-e-Toiba and Islamic State terror outfits, he said that intelligence agencies are closely monitoring developments, and operational planning is conducted in coordination with all security forces to counter potential threats.
The BSF’s proactive measures along the LoC highlight the continued focus on preventing cross-border terrorism and ensuring the security of Jammu and Kashmir.
