India, Dec 21 : The official shoot of the biographical film ‘Maa Vande’, based on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, commenced with a traditional pooja ceremony. Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan, who plays the role of Modi, participated in the inaugural ritual as the cast and crew came together before filming began. Photos and short videos from the event were shared on social media on Saturday.
The project, first announced on Modi’s birthday in September, will explore the Prime Minister’s life from multiple angles, combining his public and private experiences. A key focus of the film will be Modi’s relationship with his mother, with the title ‘Maa Vande’ reflecting this emotional connection alongside his political journey.

Mukundan, who grew up in Ahmedabad and first encountered Modi during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister, described taking on the role as both challenging and emotionally demanding. He shared that a phrase from Modi “Jhookvanu Nahi” (Never Bow Down)—left a lasting impression on him, guiding his portrayal of the leader.
Pan-India and International Release
‘Maa Vande’ is being developed as a pan-India release, with multiple Indian languages planned. The makers also intend to release the film internationally in select countries, highlighting Modi’s journey on a global scale.
