Jammu, 28 November 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) OBC Morcha paid heartfelt tributes to the great social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his death anniversary at Kachi Cantonment in Jammu today, remembering his invaluable contribution to eradicating social evils and promoting equality.
J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, accompanied by Jammu East MLA Yudhvir Sethi, OBC Morcha State President Brahm Jyot Satti, BJP District President Rajesh Gupta, and several other senior leaders.
The event was organized by OBC Morcha District President Arun Sethi. A floral tribute was paid to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and his social work was remembered.
Sat Sharma addressing the event said that Jyotiba Phule dedicated his entire life to the upliftment of the underprivileged and vulnerable sections of society. He said that Jyotiba Phule fearlessly spoke out against social evils like Sati and child marriage and advocated for women’s education and rights. He said that Mahatma Phule started schools for girls and underprivileged sections at a time when these were considered taboo in society. His revolutionary thinking changed the mindset of society and opened new avenues for future generations.
Sat Sharma further said that the BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working on these ideals of social justice and empowerment of backward classes. We are committed to ensuring that every citizen has equal opportunities for progress, as Phule had dreamed, he added.
Yudhvir Sethi describing Phule as a pioneer of the social justice movement, said that Jyotiba Phule laid the foundation for a society where every person, especially women and underprivileged sections, can access education and respect. He said that Mahatma Phule was not limited to speeches, he founded numerous institutions, promoted widow remarriage, and worked to protect the rights of farmers. Phule ji taught us that real social change comes through courage, compassion, and action, he said.
Sethi also said that the new generation must study Mahatma Phule’s life and thoughts to understand the true meaning of equality and national development. His message of eliminating discrimination and promoting education is even more relevant today, he added.
Brahma Jyot Satti expressed his gratitude to all present at the event and reiterated the Morcha’s resolve to continue following the path shown by Mahatma Phule. He said that we must draw inspiration from his mission and continue working for the welfare of all backward and deprived communities, including OBCs.
