Srinagar, Dec 4: In a significant boost to youth entrepreneurship in Jammu and Kashmir, J&K Bank has sanctioned loans to 10,000 young beneficiaries under the Union Territory’s flagship Mission Yuva scheme. The initiative aims to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with financial support and mentoring so they can establish their own ventures and become economically self-reliant.
A spokesperson of the bank said the achievement marks a major milestone in the bank’s collaboration with the J&K Government to transform the vision of youth empowerment into concrete economic outcomes. Mission Yuva, a key government initiative, encourages young people to become job creators instead of job seekers, while contributing to the region’s broader economic progress.
The spokesman highlighted that by extending financial assistance on such a large scale, the bank is helping nurture a new entrepreneurial culture across urban and rural areas alike. “This is a testament to our commitment to support the dreams and aspirations of young men and women,” he added.
Expressing satisfaction over the achievement, MD and CEO Amitava Chatterjee said the sanctioning of loans to 10,000 aspiring entrepreneurs reflects the bank’s deep-rooted commitment to advancing self-reliance, inclusive growth, and sustainable development in the region.
“This milestone is not just about numbers; it represents the spirit of our youth taking charge of their future with confidence and purpose,” Chatterjee said. He reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to supporting Mission Yuva as a transformative programme that not only creates economic opportunities but also strengthens the socio-economic fabric of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mission Yuva provides a broad support system to young individuals, which includes financial assistance, capacity-building programmes, grassroots mentoring, and handholding support to help them successfully launch and scale their ventures. The scheme is designed to spark innovation, encourage risk-taking, and build a self-sustaining entrepreneurial ecosystem across the UT.
The initiative is expected to generate new livelihood opportunities, stimulate local business activity, and empower the youth to contribute meaningfully to the region’s economic landscape.
