Jammu, Feb 21: In a significant breakthrough, police in Jammu West Sub-division successfully recovered stolen items worth ₹37 lakh across multiple theft cases, leading to the arrest of several accused individuals. Addressing a press conference at Janipur Police Station, SP North Jammu Vivek Shekhar detailed the major cases solved by the police teams. One of the cases involved a jeweler who had hired house help through an online agency. The maid, taking advantage of his absence, allegedly stole valuables, including gold jewelry, mobile phones, and a laptop. Upon receiving the complaint at Janipur Police Station (FIR No. 22/2025), the police acted swiftly, tracking down the accused to Assam and recovering all the stolen items from her possession.
In another operation, police in Bakshi Nagar cracked a major theft case registered under FIR No. 17/2025, recovering 175 grams of gold, ₹2 lakh in cash, and a sharp-edged weapon (toka) from an accused individual. The stolen valuables, estimated to be worth ₹20 lakh, were successfully restored to their rightful owner following legal procedures. On February 20, police also solved a vehicle theft case following a complaint by one Shahzad Ahmad, whose Bullet motorcycle had been stolen. Investigations led to the arrest of the accused, identified as Dheeraj Singh, a habitual offender with 25 FIRs registered against him.
Continuing their crackdown on theft incidents, police in Bakshi Nagar successfully resolved cases registered under FIR Nos. 3/2025 and 10/2025, leading to the arrest of Sadam Hussain, Zia Farooq, and Sahil Imtiaz. The operation, led by SHO Bakshi Nagar, resulted in the recovery of several stolen items, including gold ornaments, multiple mobile phones, two scooties, and an electric auto-rickshaw.
SP North Jammu Vivek Shekhar urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies to help curb crime. He also emphasized the importance of installing CCTV cameras and appointing security watchmen in commercial and residential areas to enhance safety. The successful recovery of stolen property and swift arrests underscore the Jammu Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring justice for victims of theft-related crimes.
