Jaipur, Sep 30: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday conveyed his “heartfelt” greetings to the nation on the occasion of Mahashtami, the eighth day of Sharadiya Navratri.
In a social media message, Kharge said, “Heartfelt best wishes to all countrymen on the special festival of Mahashtami, dedicated to the worship of Adishakti. May happiness, peace, and prosperity remain in everyone’s lives, and may there be blessings of progress and advancement–this is our prayer.”
Devotees across the country marked Maha Ashtami by flocking to temples, including the Vaishno Devi temple in Raja Park, Jaipur, where the goddess’s idol was specially adorned. Temple priest Pandit Madan Mohan explained the spiritual significance, highlighting the worship of Goddess Mahagauri, the eighth form of Durga.
Mahagauri, symbolizing purity, serenity, and wisdom, is believed to cleanse one’s soul and grant peace and prosperity. The day also sees the performance of Kanya Puja, where young girls are honored as manifestations of the goddess, with offerings of special food and gifts.
Kharge’s greetings coincide with the spiritual celebrations, emphasizing the importance of devotion, harmony, and the blessings of Maha Ashtami for all.
