30 year old man killed after alleged personal dispute in Wazirabad licensed weapon recovered

New Delhi: A Delhi Police head constable and two others have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting at a wedding function in north Delhi’s Wazirabad area, officials said on Monday.

The accused constable, identified as Parvesh, was posted with the Traffic Unit in the northeast district and had joined the force in 2008. Police said information was received at Wazirabad police station regarding a man with a gunshot wound admitted to a trauma centre in Timarpur, where he was declared dead.

The deceased, Ashish (30), a resident of Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh, had attended the wedding along with family members. He was employed as a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) in the Enforcement Department.

Alleged Motive and Incident

According to Ashish’s younger brother, Anuj, Parvesh  who hails from the same native village suspected his wife of having a relationship with the victim, leading to prior tensions between the families. Though the matter was reportedly discussed months earlier, threats allegedly continued.

Police said that as the victim and his relatives were preparing to leave the venue, the accused and his associates intercepted him. He was allegedly assaulted with the butt of a pistol before being shot in the chest. The assailants fled immediately after the incident.

Ashish was first taken to a nearby private hospital and later shifted to a trauma centre, where doctors declared him dead.

Investigation and Arrests

A crime team and forensic experts examined the scene and collected evidence. A case has been registered under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

Parvesh, his brother Sandeep and brother-in-law Vipin have been taken into custody. The licensed firearm allegedly used in the crime has been seized. Another suspect, Vikash, remains absconding.

Further investigation is underway, police said.
