Manchester United Goalkeeper Joins Trabzonspor on Loan

Onana moves to Trabzonspor on loan as Manchester United bolster goalkeeper options with Senne Lammens signing

Manchester, Sep 12: Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has joined Turkish side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan for 2025/26, subject to international clearance and registration, the clubs confirmed. The move was completed ahead of the Turkish transfer window closing on Friday.

“An agreement has been reached with Manchester United regarding the temporary transfer of professional footballer Andre Onana to our club for the 2025-2026 season,” Trabzonspor said.

The 29-year-old Cameroon international joined Manchester United from Inter Milan in July 2023 and made 102 appearances for the club across two seasons. Onana featured prominently during his first campaign, helping United lift the FA Cup after defeating Manchester City at Wembley, and became the first goalkeeper in Premier League history to win Save of the Month three times.

This season, Onana made only one appearance for United in the Carabao Cup loss to League Two side Grimsby Town, after a pre-season hamstring injury and an early-season error limited his involvement. The arrival of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp further reduced Onana’s first-team opportunities.

Trabzonspor will now integrate Onana into their squad, while United’s goalkeeping options for Premier League fixtures include Lammens, Altay Bayindir, and Tom Heaton.
