New Delhi, Aug. 1: India’s manufacturing sector recorded stronger expansion at the beginning of August, supported by rising domestic demand, improved production levels, and sustained business confidence.
Recent industry data showed that factories experienced an increase in new orders, encouraging companies to scale up production and expand hiring. Consumer demand remained a key contributor to the improved performance, while export orders also showed signs of gradual recovery.
Manufacturers reported better capacity utilisation and improved supply chain conditions, helping firms meet growing order volumes without significant disruptions. Input cost pressures eased compared with previous months, although businesses continued to monitor raw material prices closely.
Industry experts believe the positive trend reflects the resilience of India’s industrial economy despite persistent global economic challenges. They noted that continued government infrastructure spending and healthy domestic consumption are likely to support manufacturing activity in the coming months.
Analysts said sustained improvement in factory output could strengthen industrial production, generate employment opportunities, and contribute positively to India’s overall economic growth during the current financial year.
Businesses remain optimistic that stable demand and supportive policy measures will help maintain growth momentum through the remainder of 2026.
