‘Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq’: Congress Vows Nationwide Stir, Announces Delhi Gherao Today

  • Jammu, July 19, 2025: JKPCC President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra, AICC General Secretary G A Mir, Working President Raman Bhalla, and all senior leaders alongwith over 200 leaders and workers were taken into preventive detention during a massive protest by the Congress party here today from Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu, towards Rajbhawan.

As the large number of senior Congress leaders and workers led by PCC Chief and others took out a protest from Congress HQ Jammu, the police tried to stop their march at Shaeedi Chowk leading to scuffle with the police as the protestors tried to broke the police barricade and marched towards Residency road and Raghunath Bazar.

Large number of workers and leaders pushed their way towards Residency road and were boarded in the waiting police buses and taken to DPL Jammu while PCC President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra and few others succeeded in going ahead to Raghunath Bazar Chowk and later taken into detention.

AICC General Secretary & CLP Leader G A Mir, Working President Raman  Bhalla, Ch Lal Singh, AICC Secretaries Shah Nawaz Chaudhary, Neeraj kundan  Th Balwan Singh, Mula Ram, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, MLA Iftikhar Ahmed,  Naresh Gupta,  Th Balbir Singh,   Smt. Indu Pawar, Th Manmohan Singh,  Th Hari Singh Chib , T S Tony, Ex MLAs ,Ex MLC, DCC Presidents  Pankaj Dogra,  SanjeevSharma, BhupenderSingh, VinodKhajuria,  ,Frontal heads ,Ex Corporators ,Mahila Congress leaders alongwith Other senior leaders were taken into custody by the police and taken to DPL .

Hundreds of Congress  workers had assembled from all over province as the party had already announced the scheduled march today to Rajbhawan from Shaeedi Chowk Jammu as part of intensification of its struggle for restoration of statehood ‘ Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq ” but the police had deployed a heavy contingent and erected barbed baricade to stop the protestors from marching ahead of Shaeedi Chowk,near the Congress HQ.

Talking to reporters, Shri Karra lashed out at the  Modi government for delaying and denying legitimate demand of full statehood, promised to the people of Jammu and Kashmir by the centre on multiple occasions and directed by the Supreme Court.

He said Congress party is determined to fight for the rights and aspirations of the people and for the identity and status & to safeguard the rights to land,jobs and natural resources.
As the workers raised strong slogans of restoration of statehood, our land our right,our jobs our rights, our jobs our right etc, Shri Karra said that Congress party is on the forefront both in J&K UT and at national level. Our leaders Shri Malikarjun Kharge and Shri Rahul Gandhi have reminded the Prime Minister of the promise of the centre Govt. to grant full statehood and it has the backing of INDIA block.

He also expressed gratitude to the leadership for discussing the issue with other constituents of the INDIA block for raising our demand in the house.

Karra announced to go ahead with the scheduled chalo Delhi Chalo call of the party tomorrow afternoon by buses to launch a peaceful protest in Delhi as per of parliamentary ‘Gherao’ in support of the demand.

AICC General Secretary & CLP Leader criticized the police administration for stopping the peaceful march  in Srinagar and Jammu today. He also took strong notice of the placing of barbed wire before barricade which posed great danger to peaceful protestors.

Mir said that centre government promised statehood on number of occasions last six years but now it is silent, causing unrest amongst people. He expressed gratitude to the Congress leadership for taking up the demand at this crucial time when monsoon session of Parliament is starting tomorrow.

The party forwarded the memorandum to the Prime Minister through LG containing the demand of party.
