Jammu, 09-02-2025: In connection with the Prakash Divas of Guru Ravi Das Ji Maharaj, a grand Shobha Yatra was taken out in Jammu City, drawing a large gathering of devotees who participated with immense enthusiasm and devotion. The religious procession, organized by Guru Ravi Das Sabha and the local community, commenced with special prayers at the Guru Ravi Das Ji Temple and Sabha Complex in Krishna Nagar, where members of the Scheduled Caste community and other devotees assembled to pay their respects. Several vehicles, including tractor trolleys, were adorned with colorful decorations, carrying religious jhankis that depicted the teachings and life of the revered Guru.
Led by members of the Adhoc Committee of the Sabha, including Prof. C.L. Shivgotra and Er. Ramesh Bhasin, the Shobha Yatra started from Krishna Nagar Sabha Bhawan at around 11:30 AM, proceeding through key areas of the city such as Jewel Chowk, Gumat, Indira Chowk, Shalamar Road, and Raghunath Bazaar before culminating at the Guru Ravi Das Ji Temple at Bahu Fort in the evening. The procession witnessed a significant turnout, with women, children, and elders actively participating, chanting religious hymns and slogans in praise of Guru Ravi Das Ji. Along the route, devotees and bystanders welcomed the Yatra, offering prayers and showering flowers, adding to the spiritual fervor of the occasion.
The administration had made necessary arrangements to facilitate the smooth movement of the procession, with traffic diversions in place to avoid congestion. Security personnel were deployed to ensure a peaceful passage, amid concerns of possible tensions, though the event remained entirely peaceful. Upon reaching the Bahu Fort Temple, the Shobha Yatra was received by prominent dignitaries, including Minister for PHE and Forest Javed Rana, National Conference Provincial President Rattan Lal Gupta, MLA Ramnagar Sunil Bhardwaj, and Chairman of the SC Cell of the National Conference Vijay Lochan. Addressing the gathering, the leaders spoke on the teachings of Guru Ravi Das Ji, emphasizing his messages of equality, social justice, and harmony, which they said remain highly relevant in contemporary society. They urged the community to follow the Guru’s path of love and unity, fostering a spirit of inclusivity.
The celebrations are set to continue with the main function scheduled to be held at Krishna Nagar Sabha Bhawan on February 12, where a large number of devotees are expected to participate. The successful organization of the Shobha Yatra and the overwhelming response from the community underscored the deep reverence for Guru Ravi Das Ji and the significance of his teachings in promoting a just and egalitarian society.
