AHMEDABAD, Apr 02 : The Gujarat State Primary Education Selection Committee has announced a major recruitment initiative aimed at filling approximately 11,000 primary teaching positions across government schools in the state.
Under this drive, vacancies for Gujarati medium primary teachers have been notified, with online applications expected to open from mid‑April 2026. The recruitment aims to address long‑standing shortages in foundational grades and improve the teacher‑student ratio in public schools.
Of the total positions, around 5,000 vacancies are carry‑overs from the previous year, while 6,000 are newly approved posts under the state’s decade‑long educational staffing plan. Experts believe this push will bolster classroom learning quality and ensure better academic support for early learners.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen government education infrastructure, with authorities also reopening the approval process for new and expanded primary school establishments later this month.
