JAMMU: Taranjit Singh Tony, Chairman Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu and Kashmir for Administrative Engagement and Minority Affairs, and District Development Council (DDC) Member Suchetgarh said that matter under Roshni Act is sub-judice as more than 100 petitions are in court while a fresh plea has been filed in the Apex Court therefore any eviction carried out by the government will be taken as contempt of court.
In a statement issued to media persons, the senior APP leader alleged that the government in J&K had assured that the action will only be taken against the big sharks who had usurped the big land chunks comprising thousands of kanals of land but on ground the notices have been served to poor and marginalized sections of society having few marlas of land on which these underprivileged people have constructed their houses and small shops. He said that the present land order shows the hypocrisy of BJP because on one side its leadership in J&K vows to work for the needy and on other the very same leaders ask their high command to ruin the lives of people living in peace for years together.
Tony said that the BJP Government is the most distrustful dispensation which the people of J&K have ever seen. Instead of teaching a lesson to big mafias who had captured state resources, the Government is showing its might on poor strata of the society. He said that there was no flaw in the process of enactment of Roshni Act because everything has been done under the law of land because the Act was passed in legally in the erstwhile state Assembly but it is strange and questionable that the very government which has passed this law through proper channel has not defended the same.
The senior APP leader said that those who have acquired the land under the Roshni Scheme are not guilty rather they have completed the formalities as the law of the land at that time. “If the Government is smelling rat than it should get hold of the officials who carried out deals in this regard and gave the rights to people to go ahead with construction and other works on these land chunks”, Tony said, adding that the order for eviction of poor show the real dirty face of BJP regime and AAP will not leave any stone unturned to save the people from this disaster at the hands of Modi Government.
“No one is above the law, not even the J&K Government. So the bureaucrats must understand that they cannot move above the laws as they are also being governed by the law of the land,” he added.
