Lucknow, Sep 15: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati will hold a major public rally in Lucknow on October 9 to commemorate the death anniversary of party founder Kanshi Ram. This will be her first significant rally since 2021, signaling a strategic effort to reinvigorate the party’s organizational base and mobilize supporters ahead of next year’s district panchayat elections and the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
The rally, scheduled at the Kanshi Ram Memorial Site on Old Jail Road, is seen as an attempt to energize party cadres and demonstrate BSP’s enduring political strength in the state. A 10-member committee, headed by BSP National General Secretary Satish Chandra Mishra, has been formed to oversee preparations for the event.
Key leaders involved in rally arrangements include State President Vishwanath Pal, Mewa Lal Gautam, Ram Autar Mittal, Dhanshyam Kharwar, Munquad Ali, Naushad Ali, Akhilesh Ambedkar, Shailendra Gautam, and Girish Jatav, alongside the full BSP unit of Lucknow district.
The rally comes at a critical juncture as the BSP seeks to regain political relevance after experiencing erosion in leadership and support over recent years. Several senior leaders have exited the party, and electoral performance has seen a decline.
The party aims to draw lakhs of supporters from across Uttar Pradesh, using the rally both as a show of strength and as a signal of its renewed political ambitions. In a related organizational move, Mayawati has appointed former Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Siddharth as the Central Coordinator for four key states: Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Gujarat.
